We finally did it :)

Yesterday Shadowlords Society hit Guild Rank 37 and therefore we are now able to buy the Advanced mounts. Go us :D

They're expensive, but all shiny. Rumor has it Dwaven Copters got Stinger Upgrades and Anti-Sorcerer-Flares.
Additionally, the guild recieves some discount on buying siege weaponry from now on aswell.

On to Level 38 and a mature third standard to use :)

October Update

It's been silent for a month regarding guild news, due to a lot of changes in WAR and along with that in Shadowlords Society.

Changes in WAR
The changes in WAR the recent month include more server transfers as the servers of Karak Eight Peaks (english core), Gorthor (italian Core) and Montanas Negras (spanish Core) got merged into the english server community. We therefore especially welcome our new italian and spanish players to Karak Azgal, who brought some fresh air into the community. Nice to have you aboard, people from the Lands of Pasta and Paella. :D We as international guild ask all our players - despite, or maybe just because of eventual language barriers - to give the italian and spanish players a nice and helpful welcome. Let the complaining about the proper server language be done by others.

Release of Aion
In September a new, much anticipated MMO game went live for players all over the world. While the Shadowlords Society still stay in WAR as its main game, many of our old and new members went to pastures new. We wish you lot a pleasant journey and a nice gaming experience.
If you like to play Aion and see some of the old faces again, consider Telemachus Server, Elyos Side. While Shadowlords Society is not founded in Aion you will find Borni, Samm, Suela and many others there. Also check out the forum post about Aion.

Shadowlords Society News

Council Changes
First of all we're happy to announce a new Guild Master (or should i say Mistress? :)). Borni will be no longer as active in WAR as he used to be and so he stepped down as Guild Master.
Congratulations to Aurelia, our new Guildmaster !!!
Regarding Council members we have to say farewll to Sall, Samm, Suela, Xaniety. Thanks for all the work and effort you put up for the guild, you will greatly be missed.
To keep the everyday guild business up and running we welcome Beanie, Fireloon, Kalindar and Tulip to the Council.

Welome OCD !!!
We've been running alongside OCD in our alliance for a while now, and as time passed by the bonds were tightened between our guilds, which finally lead to Shadowlords Society merging with OCD guild as of today. Welcome to all members of OCD, we hope you feel at home soon within our community, i myself have no doubts in that. Including that move we welcome Grunder, Naell and Haknamour - once he returned to WAR - to strengthen our Council. We wish us all a bright future on Karak-Azgal.

The Training Camp moves to Tier3
Our little project is still up and running and is yet successful, in fact the participation grows every day. That saying, it's now open to our alliance aswell. We're keen to continue our travel through the Tiers, and so it will still take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. All members, old or new, with Tier 3 characters are welcome to join.

Guild Level 34
... was finally reached this week. It took us a bit longer than expected, but we're finally there. Door Upgrade 5, here we come, aswell as the second tactic slot for our final standard. Way to go us all, as i'm writing this we're already 10% closer to guild level 35.

Last but not least, welcome to all the new members who joined us the last few weeks. It's nice to see many new faces followed by a lively guild chat and lots of action happening. We're looking forward to you all enjoying being part of this community and wish us all the best fun.

For those members leaving in the past month, we wish you a farewell and all the best in whatever you do. While you will be greatly missed, us remaining ones stay with the hope to see you back at some point. Be sure to throw us a PM if so. Once a Shadowlord, always a Shadowlord!

That's all for now, yeah okay, it was quite a block to read. You see we're buys as always alive and kicking ;)
See you out there on the field.

01/09/09 - The Wild Hunt begins

As of today the 'Wild Hunt' live event will take place for one week. It ofcourse will bring some fluff and hopefully a nice change in scenery introducing a new dungeon available for one week to all tiers.
As expected there will be exclusive titles and items available to be gathered during this event only.

image

Additional information about this can be found in GOA's news section, Mythic's WAR Page and in the dedicated FAQ.
According to the schedule the event should stay live until 08/09/09.

Shadowlords Society will ofcourse take part in it, so be sure to check the ingame Guild Calendar for hunts and/or ask in the guild chat for the groups. This event is available to all tiers, so no one has to be missed out.

Also, WAR celebrating his 1st year anniversary in september, giving us renown bonusses, fireworks and other kinky stuff. Feel free to collect as many as you can. We got a guild celebration on the horizon we need them for.

So get your knives sharpened, a happy hunting to us all !

17/06/09- TIG and 1.3

Aaaah it is that time again, the time when servers die and player tempers fray..... yes it is PATCH DAY!

image

1.3 Is here and although the anticipated class balances have been left out for a later patch this patch does bring in the Lands of the dead as well as some nice improvements to good old dungeons such as Mount Gunbad. Full patch Notes can be found here http://herald.warhammeronline.com/patchnotes/index.php?id=2009_1-3-0#_55

Unless you have been living in a cave you will also notice we have left our old Unity alliance and are now part of TIG. Although we have been with them less than a week I have already noticed how much more active it is and I am sure Shadowlords can contribute as well as benefit a great deal from TIG. I would just like to extend my thanks to Suela and Borni for arranging the move (plus anyone else involved!)

You can find information on our new alliance here curtesy of Suela. http://www.shadowlords.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1546

Rumours of his death were apparently over exaggerated, he has returned from the land of Sushi, fast trains and short people. Yes Cadwallon has returned. Welcome back bud! Now can someone just find Marc?

See you in the Lands of the Dead! (when my patcher finishes)

07/06/09 - Bring on 1.3

Greetings Shadowlords

Time moves on and patch 1.3 is swiftly approaching.

I am personally looking forward to some fun guild events when they release the new instances and PQs and it is up to all of us to make it as much fun as possible.

I would like to see guild groups running as much as possible in the new area, it is obviously only optional and if people want to do their own thing they are welcome to do so, but it would be nice and I think beneficial to us all to get the guild moving through it together. But it is up to each one of us to see that we do this. Organising events is not just up to level 40 officers, anyone from 1-40 whether you are new to the guild or part of the furniture is welcome to post on the calendar and get a group together.

image

We have many new faces in the guild at the moment so please all say hello and behave :)

Checkout Samms post on the forum here http://www.shadowlords.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1510 for more info on Lands of the Dead!

I would also just like to thank Shaunieboy, Astramenius, Cricky, Aurelia and all the others that have posted in the "info" section. Thanks for all the input guys and gals, keep it coming!

13/04/09- Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Shadowlords!

I hope you have all had a great easter weekend, I know I had a fabulous home cooked roast yesterday, yuuuum! Back to work tomorrow though, booo!

Firstly I just want to repeat what Nibor said yesterday and thank everyone for coming to the event, it was a great turnout and I am sure Mr Gamblor Neonstaff would have been proud. Obviously some people had other commitments which is totally understandable on Easter weekend, but none the less, good job to all those that turned up. SS is now the number one guild on the server when it comes to "forming the line". I only managed to get a couple of screenshots and this was my favourite. I am sure you have all got some though so feel free to post them here http://www.shadowlords.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1419 ....... note to self, figure out how to upload onto the gallery!

Sadly we did loose Coldwind this week, he has moved on to pastures new! But I have already seen him out and about on the battlefield. Just want to wish him all the best where ever he turns up and offer him our thanks for all that he did while he was in the guild. Shadowlords is and always has been a casual guild, we have operated this way for 6 or 7 years, it has been so long I dont even know now; but it has served us well and we will continue to be a casual guild.

There are several events coming this week, I am planning to run Bastion on Tuesday.... yes yes I need the uber healing staff, but there will be other drops also! There is also a change in the guild RVR date, i understand this is now Thursday as we would like to see if more people can make this day as I know those poor people with social lives have better things to do on a Friday night, boooo! :) If we can get as many people for this as we did for this weekends event it should be good fun.

Also you may have now noticed we are part of an alliance called "United", feel free to use it to get groups but try not to spam the alliance channel with general chit chat :)

Congratulations to Suela on joining the Officer ranks, hopefully you will be hearing from him a lot more. Also a welcome back to Marc and Adenn into their leadership roles after their short but greatly missed time out due to other commitments.

Lastly just a big thanks to Das for all the work he has done on the guild site, it is looking great bud, good job!

Once again happy Easter and for those that have it, enjoy your bank holiday Monday!

26/03/09 Howdy Shadowlords

Just a quick hello from me, i have returned after 1 or two months off from the game. Really glad to see the guild is doing as well as ever! I have only been online for few evenings but i am seeing far more lvl 40s on now than i did before i "took a break".

Guild recruitment has been going well and i see lots of new faces, so hello to all!

Also i understand Alliance talks are underway, expect more on that soon.

I know we have a few people taking breaks at the moment, Tanarion and Swifty spring to mind as well as Cad who i hear is in Japan?? Sam is also on a bit less due to Uni commitments and Xans pc imploded on itself due to his excessive tanking skills! So don't expect to see these people on much at the moment, but hopefully sometime soon!

Checked the calendar quickly and there seems to be plenty of events planned so check things out.... Also feel free to add your own events.

Expect to see updates on thie main page more often as i will be taking this up as my responsibility, I dont know how many noticed but Christmas ended sometime ago!

Thats all for now. See you in game Shadowlords!

UPDATE: Sue has returned to the guild so welcome back Sue! Good to have you back with us, don't worry we wont hold it against you.... much ;)

Mall has asked for a story about what i got upto while on my break.... so here is the first part of this "story".

==================================
Merls Journey
==================================
Merl fought long and hard healing and supporting his friends and allies in the never ending battle against the forces of destruction. He rejocied on the day he reached his 40th level, he was now a veteran of countless battles. But alas things were not right in the land of WAR. The day had come for Merl to pack up his Rune Staff, put fuel in his Roflcopter and copter off into lands unknown. For a time he ventured into the world of "Real life" retiring his copter for what humans called a "bike", muddying his Runic Robes and getting his once long tidy and well presented beard stuck in the chain while cycling through through dense forests with his new found human friends. They would cycle for hours getting lost in the wilderness safe in the knowledge that they were far from the sharp blades of seductive but deadly Witch Elves, knowing that his only enemy were his rusty skills using the some what primitive (by dwarven standards) two wheeled cycling machine.

On one such day while peddling through an unknown land Merl and his human friends came across a Portal, it looked strange and out of place in the land of "Real life". Merl urged his friends to follow him through the portal but alas they were only simple human folk. The stubborn dwarf would not be diswaded and before they could stop him he jumped through the portal...

Once on the other side he found to his terror that he was surrounded by Orcs, but strangly rather than hearing the familiar words "Random Orc says something in a language you don't understand", he could actually understand everything that they were saying, he was even more startled when he looked down to find he had huge muscular green arms. After long hours trying to get any useful information from the rather simple thinking Orcs he came to know that he was in the body of a mighty Orc Warrior around the age of 70 in a funny looking land named WoW. Everything in this land had a vibrant and almost cartoony look and he was constantly pestered by people offering to exchange his real life money for the gold they used in this world..... how they would have use for the "real life" money Merl could not understand.

Alas Merl spent much time in the land of WoW practicing his combat skills and enduring the mindless combat against simple creatures with almost no inteligence....he found himself longing to return to his real home, a land where he fought worthy foes in great battles worthy of song over an ale with his Guild and dwarven brothers after a glorious victory, he longed to return to WAR.... but stuck in this alien world far from his friends how would he ever get home....

News roundup :: 5th October

News Roundup

First of all, I’m very sorry that these news updates have not been more frequent. I’ve had a very busy week which has left me with very little game time. I’d also forgotten about this and Nibor kindly pointed out that there had not been an update for a while, so here it is, enjoy!

Guild Rank 13
The guild has been progressing very well and we have now achieved guild rank 13. Guild rank 10 allowed us to customise our standard with the guild emblem. The design wanted to be as close to the classic Dark Age of Camelot emblem as possible, and what we have is excellent. You can see the design on the standard tab of the guild information window. A lot of our members are looking forward to guild rank 15, where we can wear the emblem design on our cloaks. Shadowlords Society was very well known for our yellow and black cloaks charging into battle, and this will be no different in Warhammer. I hope everyone wears their cloak with pride!

Tier 2 and Tier 3 progression
We now have a healthy number of different level characters in the guild. This means that we are progressing into tier 3, while still having enough members to have fun in tier 2 through scenarios and RvR. There will hopefully be some more events coming up that will cater for both tiers.

Events
We have had a number of events arranged by various members in the guild, focusing on RvR keep takes. These have been very well organised and resulted in a lot of fun. There is nothing like taking a keep only to see the destruction zerg try and take it back, resulting in miserable failure on their part. Tier 3 keeps are slightly different with an outer wall with a keep door, along with an inner door like the standard tier 2 keeps. I personally have not had a chance to attack a new keep but I am sure they will a great challenge.

Weekly Roundup :: 8th - 14th September

Weekly Roundup
Open Beta & GOA
Many of the WAR community were dubious of Mythic’s decision to use GOA again to head up the European operations. This was down to the many problems that Dark Age of Camelot players faced with delayed patches, server crashes and general poor customer support. Unfortunately GOA fell at the first hurdle again with the WAR Open Beta. The website saw thousands of people flood the website, submitting requests to the validation and account creation servers bringing them to a grinding halt. The first day saw a minimal number of people make it onto the servers. The second day of OB was much the same. GOA were a bit better with more frequent news updates but not much changed. Cutting a long and tedious story short, people were able to submit their OB keys for authentication (which took FOREVER) and the masses finally made it onto the server.
The Shadowlords Society choose to play on the Ellyrion server for the duration of the open beta.

Open Beta & Shadowlords
Now that a lot more people from SS had finally made it onto the servers, we all travelled to meet Nibor at the capital, Altdorf. Here we formed SS for OB. Many of SS spent OB trying out various classes to see what they would roll when head start began. Healers are never going to be a problem to find now.

OB was very quiet on the news front. I imagine that very few major events are going to occur until the guild and rest of the players on the server start progressing to the higher tiers and end game where the RvR will have really developed. I for one am really looking forward to some keep raiding courtesy of the Shadowlords Society.
